I’ve had a variety of responses about this song.  Some people have resonated with it, others call have called me a fool and told me I will burn in hell...seriously.

I wrote this for a series on the book of Daniel in the Old Testament.  Our senior pastor, Tom Nelson, was going to speak on how Daniel addressed prophecy and End Times theology.  As a setup, I performed this song to present the way our opinions and perspectives have been formed through the songs, films, and literature that have become a part of Christian culture.  Some of that formation created unexpected baggage and caused misinformation.  This song was to highlight how that confusion made me unwilling to be teachable.  At the end of the song, however, you hopefully sense a change of heart and a cynic prepared to listen.

The Rapture Song

Let It Be Love

This song was born out of a desire to challenge myself regarding social justice and my personal investment in being a redemptive agent in the world.  This song highlights three organizations that have gained my admiration when it comes to battling poverty and injustice in our world:  Compassion International, International Justice Mission, and St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad.

In writing this song, I asked myself this question: At what point will I allow my heart to be broken by that which breaks God’s heart and when will I stop watching from the sidelines?

This video was put together by Kevin Harlan for part of our Compassion Sunday worship service which also was highlighted by a visit from Canon Andrew White of St. George’s Church.
